Synopsis

The key to art is imagination. Below is my work in painting; I’ve collaged these works in the environment I see them living. In my childhood, most environments I found myself were tumultuous and restricting. Learning to shape the world around me took losing everything and starting from scratch—more than once. It took shedding decades of self-doubt, hurt, and struggle to find who I am—accepting the ‘queer’ I had been hiding for 21 years. These works represent that shaping of environment, the shaping of self. Each canvas I’ve custom built using the carpentry skills I learned on my parents “little mormon farm.” Each section custom stretched with canvas then fastened above—each after the other. The color chosen to represent a feeling, a memory, a thought. The interiors and works are by my favorite artists, designers, and creators.
